Dear friend,

I had a great time last weekend at the Fairfax Animal Shelter's Pet Service Day. The event was hosted at the Hybla Valley Community Center where many community members were able to come and get free services for their pets including food, vaccines, pet supplies and much more!

I was able to work at the registration table and help several dogs and cats in the screening process. We are happy that many residents were able to come and get these great services for free!

I was also invited to attend the grand opening of Legacy Martial Arts. We are happy to see and support small businesses in our district.

Please contact my office if we can assist you.

Electric Vehicle Charging Station Permit Waiver

Good news to those that are installing an Electric Charging Station this year! The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors authorized the exemption of all electrical, building and sign permit fees for electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) for a trial period of 18 months.

The exemption supports the main vision of the Carbon-Free Fairfax initiative— “a future for Fairfax County that is healthy, sustainable, and economically prosperous without local greenhouse gas emissions”—as well as the Environment Community Outcome Area of the Countywide Strategic Plan. Eliminating the permit fees for EVCS may encourage the use of electric vehicles, which is an important step toward fulfilling that vision.

Lewis High School - All Night Grad celebration

Help the John R. Lewis High School Seniors have a fun and safe celebration! The Lewis High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) sponsors an All-Night Graduation Celebration in June. It is hosted at the St. James in Springfield and the night is filled with a lot of fun events so students celebrate their graduation night safely. They are welcoming donations and volunteers to make this a great night for students!

The buses are fueled and ready to roll as Stuff the Bus—the county’s post-holiday food drive, now in its 12th year—hits the road in the fight against hunger in Fairfax County.

You still have time now through February 18, Fastran busses will visit local grocery stores to collect nonperishable food donations for area food pantries. For the list of the locations and most requested items, please visit Stuff the Bus.

Our district's event will occur February 18th at the Kingstowne Walmart from 9:30pm to 3:00pm. We hope you will take some time to donate food items that will benefit a great food pantry in our district, Koinonia.
